We knew Kruger was going to be quite costly and decided to try and do a cheaper, more budget-friendly camp before hitting the road home.
Being the holiday season, finding any affordable, available places proved to be harder than we thought *sigh*.
So when Tannie Annalien got back to us saying they have availability over the festive season and mentioned the price, it was a no-brainer.
I’m not going to lie, we were a little hesitant and very unsure of what to expect – especially for the price we were paying. During the December holidays – anyone from South Africa knows over the festive season EVERYTHING goes up. But boy were we proven wrong. Having had bad experiences at some of our previous long stays, we took everything with a pinch of salt.
We got to reception and we were greeted by the kindest lady, she explained everything to us and helped us get settled in and find the perfect spot for our month stay.
Before we even managed to setup we were greeted by the other lovely longstayers and immediately felt welcome. This soon felt more like family than other campers and we ended up spending our Christmas with them.
We enjoyed Kromklip so much that within the 1st week, we decided to extend our stay by another month.
Kromklip just has so much to offer from a big swimming pool with a slide for the kids to enjoy, and a really nice jungle gym area, to an awesome 4×4 route. There’s a dam for the fishermen, a restaurant and bar. A shop that has all the basics and a few little extras – so no need to drive to town for milk or coffee or even meat if you feel like a braai. There’s a stunning picnic spot with a beautiful view.
The swimming pool was packed everyday with both campers and day visitors – come rain or shine and the vibe overall was just amazing.
They go above and beyond by trying to make it feel festive, Santa even arrived in a TLB to hand out gifts to the children and the night ended with Christmas carols around the pool.
We will definitely be coming back in the near future.
