Ingredients:

  • 1 Large Pao (bread roll)
  • 3-6 Large Prawns (Jumbo Mozambique prawns recommended for extra size and flavor)
  • 2 Cups of Milk
  • 1 Cup of Cheese (your choice, for a melty experience)
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, finely diced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Aromat (or your preferred seasoning blend)
  • 2 tsp Mixed Herbs
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp All-Purpose Flour

Cooking Instructions:

Prawn Preparation: Begin by thoroughly cleaning the prawns. Grill them until they achieve a light brown color, with the shells turning a bright orange. While grilling, season the flesh side with 1 tsp of aromat, 1 tsp of pepper, and a sprinkle of fish spice for an extra kick.

De-shell the Prawns: After grilling, carefully remove the shells from the prawns. Set them aside.

Sauce Time: Place a pot or pan over medium heat. Melt the butter, then add the garlic and the remaining spices. Sauté until the garlic is golden.

Creamy Mixture: In a bowl, combine cold milk and flour, whisking until smooth and lump-free. Pour this mixture into the pan, stirring continuously until it thickens into a creamy sauce.

Cheese Addition: Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the cheese. This ensures the cheese melts perfectly without losing its texture.

Pao Prep: Lightly butter the Pao and toast it on the grill until it’s nicely browned.

Assemble Your Delight: Place the grilled prawns on the toasted Pao and generously ladle the cheese sauce over them.
